Councilor Shahana in New York swears by touching the Holy Qur’an.

Shahana  sworn in on December 26 as the first Bangladeshi in the history of New York City and the first Muslim councilwoman.

Church-MacDonald’s favorite in Brooklyn, silent social activist Shahana made history in the

November 2 election after winning the Democratic Party’s nomination battle from Council

District-39 (Park Slope, Kensington and Central Brooklyn).

It is to  noted that even though 6 lakh 69 thousand Muslims live in this city which is

famous as the capital of the world, no one has been able to win the city council election before.

Along with Shahana Hanif, Shekhar Krishnan has also become a part of history by
