A man named Nurul Islam (40) was strangled to death by his daughter’s father-in-law. Police recovered his body from Laxmindar area of ​​the upazila on Monday night (January 18). The deceased was identified as Nurul Islam, son of Abdur Razzak of Chhankhola village under Ghatail upazila of Tangail district. Anisur Rahman, son of the deceased, filed a case with the police and arrested three people.

Police and the victim’s family said Nurul Islam had been missing since last Saturday (January 17th). His son Anisur Rahman made a general diary on Sunday (January 18) after searching for his relatives’ house but could not find him anywhere. Police launched a rescue operation on the basis of a general diary. Initially, the police questioned Fazr Ali, the son-in-law of Jamal Hossain, the father-in-law of the victim’s daughter, who confessed to the murder.

Later, police arrested Jamal Hossain, 45, and Shah Alam, 22, involved in the incident. According to the information provided by them, the police recovered the body of Nurul Islam from the jungle near the primary school in Laxindar village of the upazila. Later, Anisur Rahman, son of the deceased, filed a case with the police station. During interrogation, the accused said that they forcibly took Nurul Islam in an autorickshaw from Dewajana Bazar of the upazila around 7pm on Saturday. He later suffocated inside the auto. When he reached Ramdevpur and realized that he was dead, Laxmindar left the body in the jungle next to the primary school.

Bahadur, a local member of Laxmindar Union, said Jamal Hossain had been in exile for a long time. He came to the country a few days ago. We learned from their neighbor that the deceased Nurul Islam had an extramarital affair with Jamal Hossain’s wife Biani.

Ghatail Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Mohammad Chaiful Islam said a case has been registered in this regard and the accused have been sent to jail through the court. The body has been sent to Tangail General Hospital for autopsy.
