A prayer mahfil and discussion meeting has been held in the memory of eminent rhymer, heroic freedom fighter and former Additional Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh Alam Talukder. Matiara Mukta, the founding president of Matir Maa Club, presided over the meeting organized by Matir Maa Club at Ghatail Press Club at 3 pm today (January 1).
Among others present were Nazrul Islam, President of Ghatail Press Club, Haider Rahman, Founder President of Ghatail Press Club, Poet Sutradhar Choyan, Shaju Rahman, Chharakar, Nuruzzaman Mia, General Secretary, Mizanur Rahman Akand and others. Alam Talukder has published 120 books. He was awarded various prizes including Agrani Bank Children’s Literature Award.
Guni was born on 1 January 1956 in Gala village of Ghatail upazila of Tangail and died on 6 July last year at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka after contracting the corona virus.
